Is anyone else having a crazy hectic (short) week at work? Man, it’s like we’re trying to fit a full week’s worth of work into three days. I tend to like crazy days on the job—they go by quickly and are fun and fast-paced—but pair that with prepping for a holiday? No beuno. I finally got around to putting my pumpkin pies in the oven around 9pm last night. By the time they were out and cooling, it was way past my bed time. Of note, I did make my own pie crust, but I went for the canned goods for the filling. Such is life. Maybe I’ll do the 100% from scratch pie next year…and take this week off from work.
Onto the eats…
Quiche breakfast sandwich, banana and a clementine. Obviously this is not the photo of my breakfast sandwich from 7am yesterday morning, but it looks somewhat similar.
No photos of cake balls, because I was too busy, but cake balls rock. One of our project managers makes them. They are sugar and chocolate and frosting and everything good in the world. As you can tell from the drawing, I tried both the peanut butter and mint.
Turkey vegetable soup (recipe coming this afternoon), roll and some Fage with Cherry Pomegranate. Delicious, but nothing will ever top the Fage 2% with Cherry (which is tied for my favorite yogurt ever with Chobani Pineapple).
I had a raging headache by the time the afternoon rolled ’round, so I made a mug of green tea to try and caffeinate away the problem. It didn’t totally remove it, but it dulled it enough to where I could focus on the task at hand. A little later I dug into my snack of an apple, roasted pumpkin seeds and some Peanut Butter and Chocolate Puffins (bought them on clearance).

I’ve always hated that when you make pies you can’t really test them out before serving, but I fixed that problem by using pie crust scraps and a few tablespoons of filling to make mini pies. Woohoo! Perfect taste testers. I had one with a mug of tea before bed.
Holy cow, that was a lot of sugar for one day. Which could explain the consta-headache.
What’s the best thing you ate yesterday?
It’s a tie between the peanut butter chocolate cake ball and the Brussels sprouts. Is that weird? I love Brussels sprouts!
