Gym (55 minutes, 448 calories)
- 30 minutes strength (kettlebells, free weights, body bar, planks and push-ups)
- 20 minutes treadmill sprints
- 5 minutes stretch
My goal as of late has been to pack as much calorie burning power into as small amount of time as possible. Sure, on a lazy Sunday morning, I can spend 90 minutes and take a leisurely stroll, but on a Monday morning before work? I need to be efficient. This was a good start. I’m really liking doing combo strength work. A few kettlebells, a few free weights, a few machines, some body weight work.
- Body Blitz Class (60 minutes, 742 calories)
Talk about efficient! I thought nothing could really top the calorie burn of Zumba classes, but this one certainly took the cake. In the middle of it, I wanted to cry, run out of the room, and punch my instructor in the face, but now, I totally appreciate the high intensity of the 60 minutes. It was a nice combo class that alternated between strength and cardio songs. I think I’ll probably go back. It is offered twice a week, but I’m not sure I have a short enough memory to forget the pain that quickly. So once a week might be fine. 🙂
- Hoosiers Outrun Cancer 5K (38:44, 561 calories)
I wanted fresh legs for the race so I didn’t do much leading up to it. Turns out, it didn’t really matter because the race was hillmaggedon (as all Bloomington races are). I’m pretty happy with my time considering. Full race report coming at cha tomorrow.

I hate to say it, but that Body Blitz class was awesome. Painful, annoying, hard, challenging, but awesome.
