I have to be honest; I can be a bit of a blabbermouth. Especially when I’m feeling angry or frustrated. I tend to spew all the negative things floating around in my head. It can be really very toxic. It is a quality I despise in other people and especially hate in myself. No one likes to be around a Negative Nancy. Of course, sometimes you need to vent, but when venting becomes your standard mode of operation, it is time to change your mindset. I don’t think I’m 100% negative, but the negativity is creeping in a little more than I’d like it to.
I know I feel better when I’m not being negative. And I’m sure the people around me do, too. I started Complaint Free Friday on Twitter (hashtag: #complaintfreefriday) to help me remember that I don’t have to see the dark side of every single thing in my life. And in fact, the positivity is contagious. I am always so much happier on Complaint Free Fridays.
I’d really like to work on thinking about the things I want to say before I say them. I want to make sure every word coming out of my mouth is productive instead of toxic. Because when you put those toxic things out in the universe, they don’t just disappear. They hang over you like a dark cloud.
