Can you believe it has already been over a month since the last Good Reads post? Time flies when you’re havin’ fun, eh?
Last time we talked, I was only two books into my 25 book goal for 2011. I am happy to report that I have now finished seven books. That’s five in the past month alone. Woohoo! I’ve noticed that the busier I get, the more I like to retreat to a good book as part of my wind down routine before bed.
I just started (as in, I just put my bookmark under the front cover) the second novel in the Vampire Academy series, so no insights on that one yet. But I’ve recently finished three YA books that I adored!
Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare
I devoured The Mortal Instruments series during my time at our beach house this summer and was very, very skeptical about enjoying a prequel to a series that I loved so much. But I ended up loving this even more than the original series! I loved the Victorian/steampunk setting and I love me a good strong-headed heroine. Highly recommended! For what it’s worth, you don’t need to read The Mortal Instruments series before starting this book.
Paper Towns by John Green
This book had me laughing out loud in the first few chapters and bawling my eyes out by the end. The main female character is interesting, dark, creative and not the norm. I devoured this book in less than 24 hours. Highly recommended!
Leaving Paradise by Simone Elkeles
Another teen love story (because really, that’s what the majority of YA books are about) but with an awesome star-crossed lovers twist. I loved the “ending” of this story—even though there is a sequel and I’m sure the story continues. I really, really like books in series that are their own story. I hate it when an entire book feels like just a chapter and this one was a great story all on its own!
