Many summer afternoons during my childhood were spent roaming around barefoot in my parents’ large kitchen garden. I’d run my fingers through the dark soil, help pull up radishes and carrots, and snack on fresh-from-the-stalk green beans and corn.
I began gardening for myself on a small apartment patio in the city—and was able to produce hundreds of pounds of fresh, organic produce for me and my family with containers, hanging baskets, and a small raised bed. Now, I’m lucky enough to garden a plot that is over 6000% bigger! We have a 65′ x 90′ plot where we organically grow over a hundred different varieties of vegetables, fruits, and herbs.
