Thinking…that I really need a new office chair. I’ve got a wicked bad pain in my right hip/lower back that is particularly horrible on the days that I sit at my desk all day. My desk chair is a hand-me-down from my parents. They handed it down to me when I was 19. And I’m still siting on it. Unfortunately, the back support needs of a 19-year-old greatly different from the needs of an (almost) 30-year-old. Anyone have any recommendations of an office chair they love?
Feeling…thankful that I was able to leave a job that wasn’t a good fit for me. Three or four times a week, I see an old tweet of mine on Timehop (such a fun app!) where I was so sad/mad/angry/passive aggressive. I’m so much happier (and poorer, but whatever) now—in person and on social media.
Watching…One Tree Hill. Again. I’m kinda in love with this series. Probably because I’m eternally 15 years old and a huge fan of basketball. Let’s talk about how big of an ass Dan Scott is, k?
Reading…Someday, Someday Maybe by Lauren Graham. I love Lauren Graham (AKA: Lorelai Gilmore and Sarah Braverman), and I really wanted to love her first novel, but I’m struggling getting into it. The writing is good and it’s made me laugh-out-loud a few times, but the story just isn’t grabbing hold of me. I’m going to keep reading though, and hopefully I’ll get into it.
Excited…about the Indy 500 tomorrow! SO excited! For the first time in years, the weather is actually supposed to be mild (it’s been in the upper 90s for the past few years) and I can’t wait to go to the track, watch my favorite drivers and not be worried about getting sun stroke.
Missing…the really incredible library we had in the city we used to live in. We were spoiled. Online “ordering,” a drive through pick-up window, insane selection, digital books. All for free. I never had to buy a book. Even on the rare chance they didn’t have the book you were looking for in the collection, you just requested it online and within a week or so, you got an email saying they purchased it and you could pick it up (at the drive through!). We don’t even have a free library in this area. The only library in our county costs $40 a year, which would be worth it if the services and selection were like our old library, but they aren’t. Whomp. Whomp. It’s one of the few things I miss about the “big city”.
Wondering…if it’s possible to overdose on eggs. I’m embarrassed to admit how many eggs I can eat in a day. Just to give you an idea, we get four dozen eggs from our CSA every other week. And we have no problems polishing them off. We are two people. In related news, we seriously need to raise our own chickens.
Working…on three website projects for my old employer, a website design for Craig’s boss, the book cover for Underground (the sequel to Terra), my cookbook proposal, my portfolio website, freelance posts for Anytime Health, posts for here and the Broken Plow.
Stressed…about taking care of all the little annoying things I’ve been putting off. Like rolling over my retirement account. And updating my license with my new address (what? it’s only been a year since I moved). And scheduling a grooming appointment for Puppyface. And finding a family doctor I don’t hate. Being an adult is hard, yo.
Proud…of all teachers who put their lives on the line to protect the kids in the schools during the tornado in Oklahoma. Hearing some of those stories of how clever and calm those teachers were. I mean, having your students grab their musical instruments so they could drown out the sound of the storm and use them to signal rescuers later? Genius. Teachers are entirely too underpaid in this country. Not only do they mold and shape generation after generation, but they also put their lives on the line to protect those kids when the time comes.
Wanting…a fence. We have nine glorious acres in the country. But we also have neighbors on all sides. And a dog who is really, really bad with recall (even after we went through training with her). Unfortunately, we can’t just let her roam around the property, which means we still walk her on a leash—city life style. It’s a bummer because I know she’d love to run around and chase squirrels and stuff, but until we win the lottery and can put in a fence, it’s the leash life for her.
Wishing…that I could go somewhere fun for my 30th birthday next month.
Eating…PB and J tortilla roll-ups. I mix up a little PB2 with water, spread it on a whole wheat tortilla with some jam, roll it up and enjoy. Yummy!
Drinking…cucumber-lime water. I put a pitcher of water with some cucumber slices and a few wedges of limes in the fridge and sip on it all day long. Every time I pour a glass I think of the episode of Gilmore Girls where Rory, Lorelai, Luke and Logan all go to the gym in Martha’s Vineyard and Rory and Lorelai can’t stop drinking the cucumber water. “What is it about cucumber water that makes it so much more refreshing than non-cucumber water?” “I think it’s the cucumbers.”
Loving…sunshine, PB2, flowers, irises, decaf coffee, fudge, Candy Crush Saga, the new Mythbusters season, getting the mail, flip-flops, lady bugs, hugs when Craig comes home from work.
P.S. Props to Lindsay over at Running with Tongs for inspiring this post. I love it when she does these little snapshots into her life, and I hope you guys enjoy my take on it.
