You know those mythical creatures out there who say things like, “I don’t really like sweets” or do incomprehensible things like only eat one cookie in a sitting? Yeah, I’m so not one of those kinds of people. And I so don’t understand those people.
For the longest time, I thought something was “wrong” with me because I couldn’t keep my sweet tooth under control. Why didn’t I just have the willpower to not eat those darn brownies? I needed to be better/different/stronger. Why was I so weak?
And then I realized absolutely nothing was wrong with me. I was focusing on the wrong problem.
One of the things I learned from reading the KonMari book is that it’s easier to change your environment than your behavior—which is a big “duh,” but it never quite clicked for me until I read it in black and white.
The author was, obviously, talking about tidying up your home, but for me, I’ve found that philosophy applicable to almost every arena of my life. And it definitely applies to desserts.
