Archives for February 2011

lucky number seven.

February 28, 201112

Seven miles. I am now officially past the half way point to my final half marathon distance of 13.1 miles. I’m glad I still have two months of training left, because at the end of my 7 miles yesterday, if you would have asked me if I could run another 6.1, I would have laughed…

moday motivation : procrastination

February 28, 201110

moday motivation : procrastinationI'm a dirty, rotten procrastinator. Always have been. I think it is the appeal of working under pressure. Normally, everything works out fine, but when I get super busy (like I am nowadays) procrastination is a recipe for disaster! I'm going to consciously try to quell my procrastinating ways this week. Do you procrastinate?

ow.

February 27, 20114

ow.I ran seven miles today. And I feel like this: Ow. Why did seven miles feel so much longer than six? And why am I can't-get-up-off-the-couch kind of sore only a few hours after my run, when last week I never had a lick of soreness? Running, you are a saucy minx who throws out mixed signals like whoa. Puppyface sticks out her tongue at you. P.S. Good thing we went grocery shopping today. Frozen vegetables, for the win! But. . .

two months in : a 2011 goals review

February 26, 20117

Almost two months ago, I wrote and published a post outlining my 2011 goals. I really don't want to see my resolutions fall the way of most new year's resolutions—dead by February. So you'll see a report card on my progress every other month throughout 2011. 1. Have over $10,000 in savings. (A) I am happy to report that we are rockin' this goal! This past weekend we actually created a plan that would more than double our final goal. . .

fnpn : screen time

February 25, 20117

I'm off Just Dancing at my sister's for the night. So in lieu of regular FNPN, I wanted to discuss something I've been thinking about for a few weeks now: technology-free days. I had a bit of an "A ha!" moment when I was attending my conference in Boulder a few weeks ago. The leader of our workshop had us fill out a form. The first question was, "How many hours a week do you work at your job?" Easy.. . .

fun friday : junior high fandom.

February 25, 201115

fun friday : junior high fandom.Last weekend, my 13-year-old niece and I were talking about Justin Bieber. To be totally honest, I know not a whole lot about the guy other than the is a mega-crazy-huge super star and has almost everyone's 13-year-old niece showing them pictures of his abs on their cell phones (true story). So let's talk about your favorite idols in junior high school! Who's picture did you have up in your locker in middle school? I can still remember my 7th. . .

Things I’m Digging Today.

February 24, 20113

Things I’m Digging Today.I tend to get obsessive about things. And now, it is time for me to share my obsessions. Take a look at the things I'm totally digging right now. 1. LUSH Bubble Gum lip scrub and It Started With A Kiss lip stain I'd never been in a LUSH store. We were in Boulder. We stumbled into one and I stepped out later with $50 less in my checking account and the softest lips ever. Way into with these two. . .

classic green monster smoothie

February 24, 20117

classic green monster smoothieI first got turned onto green monsters—smoothies made with spinach or kale—like most people did, through Angela at Oh She Glows. When I first saw her make one, I had one of those light bulb moments. You know, the moment when you say, "Oh my gosh, why didn't I think of that?" I knew I needed to get more greens in my life, but plowing through a huge bowl of spinach with dinner was not making for a happy Cass.. . .
