I’m not sure I’ll ever love working out. I just don’t think it’s in my nature. I’ve told people before that my natural state is “debilitating laziness” and I think that extends to working out, too. It’s definitely one of those things that falls into the “I know I gotta, but I don’t wanna” category (like getting gas, paying bills and doing presentations at work). I’m constantly forcing myself to sweat. It’s a daily struggle.
So that’s why I’m all about ways to get in a workout without it feeling like one. Even better if it’s actually fun. What? Fun? Workout? Is that possible? I’m slowly but surely learning it is. And this disc is helping.
When I was first contacted by Aerobie, Inc. to test out their pro flying disc, I was hesitant to agree to do a giveaway because I felt like it didn’t have much to with the Wholefully philosophy, but then the fine marketing folks at Aerobie told me that playing with one of their flying discs for a half an hour burns about the same amount of calories as running for a half an hour. Any kind of exercise that feels like a game is okay in my book!
I was skeptical on the activity claims, but let me tell you, this sucker flies so far that you are running and jumping and chasing after it the entire time. A workout indeed! Within a few minutes, I was sweating like crazy from all the activity.
The coolest thing about this ring is just how dang far it goes. It holds the Guinness World Record by flying a ridiculous 1,333 feet! We were tossing it clear across our nine acres. We were so far apart we had to yell to hear each other. See this photographic example. Babyface took this from where he was standing. And the disc kept flying behind me into the woods!
So much fun! This ring would be great to play with kids. As much fun as frisbee can be, the hard plastic can be hard for little (and big) fingers to catch. This rubber ring is super easy to catch. Puppyface even had fun with it!
