I have yet to warm up today. Brrrrr. Ever have those days where you are just chilled to your core?
And it is only going to get colder. Go figure. That’s what happens in the Fall. 😛
I had the sad, yearly task of picking our last garden crop before the first freeze of the season. There is a freeze warning for tonight, and that means it is time to bring in the last tomatoes from our unruly tomato plants.
Thanks to WholefullyDad for supplying the plants (from seed!) way back in May. They have been producing right up to today. Amazing for heat-loving tomatoes!
They were so zealous that they climbed the fence over to our neighbor’s patio.
Got a nice amount of cherry tomatoes and a few bigger heirlooms.
Plus quite a few green tomatoes that I’ll try to ripen indoors. I’ve heard the apple in a paper bag thing works well, anyone ever had any luck ripening green tomatoes?
And found our last green pepper.
Tomatoes and pumpkins!
I knew I wanted something warm and cozy and comforting for dinner. I was scrolling though my Evernote notebook for recipes and landed on Tina’s recipe for Macaroni and Cheese with Cauliflower. BIN-GO.
Oh mama! This was incredible.
I made it as written in Tina’s post and the taste was spot on! The only change I’ll make in the future is to reduce the amount of pasta a wee bit. We like our mac and cheese more creamy and saucy and this was a bit dry. But still awesome. And the portion size is REE-DIC-U-LOUS. See that plateful? That’s not even a full serving. We have so much leftover.
On the side, had a nice big pile of green beans.
Stay warm, my friends!
